The Jefferson Parish Library cares about all our patrons and is committed to facilitating and improving the accessibility and usability of its Website, www.jplibrary.net (the "Website") ensuring that our Website services and content are accessible to persons with disabilities including, but not limited to users of screen reader technology. To accomplish this, the Jefferson Parish Library has partnered with ReciteMe, a web accessibility consultant, by implementing its technology that will enable and maintain accessibility in-line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), which also bring the Website into conformance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 in the United States, as well as the European Accessibility Act, and similar regulations in Canada, the United Kingdom, and elsewhere around the world.
The accessibility improvement work is currently in Phase 1 of its implementation, when testing is performed both with automatic accessibility testing tools and users of screen readers to identify issues that require remediation. Remediations will be applied to the Website via an easy to find "Enable Accessibility" link to ensure equal access to all features and functions.
